My part of my class' end of year project (which explains the beginning). The concept: an astronaut going through different worlds, different biomes through a portal, inhabited by creatures we imagined and crafted by hand.
I decided to have my creature chase him, tho a dedicated post focusing on the creature will come. I imagined, sculpted, retopologized, UV unwrapped, textured, rigged and animated it using Blender for everything but the textures, that were crafted using Substance Painter.
This scene was so much fun to make! The environnement was a super challenging yet very interesting part of it. I wanted to create an oppressive, hostile, almost suffocating atmosphere, with lots of details. A believable place for my creature to live in, being its hunting ground.
I animated the astronaut thanks to the mixamo add-on for Blender, using various animations that i mixed, and created seamless transitions.
One of the hardest constraints had to be the continuous shot: trying to maintain a dynamic camera throughout the whole animation. It definitely wasn't effortless, tho exciting and rewarding at the same time!
Finally, i graded, sound designed and added some final touches with Premiere Pro and After Effects. I spent quite a bit of time finding the right sound effects and tweaking them to fit my needs, to add a nice layer of realism to the animation.
I'm really thrilled with the result, though there are some things i would now change, or enhance.
